At Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong, Key Stage 1 marks the beginning of a student’s primary learning journey. From the age of 5, students build greater independence, develop confidence and deepen their subject knowledge through a curriculum guided by the English National Curriculum, covering Years 1 and 2.
Our experienced teachers create a nurturing and stimulating environment where students are engaged, motivated, and supported to achieve their full potential.
Classes run from 8:00 to 15:00 each day, providing a balanced programme of academic, creative, and physical activities.

Specialist Provision
Students at Shrewsbury Hong Kong also benefit from specialist teaching. Lessons in Chinese, Music, Performing Arts, Physical Education, and Aquatics are delivered by dedicated specialists who bring expertise and passion into the classroom.
As part of the weekly schedule, Key Stage 1 students enjoy:
- Daily Chinese language lessons through a tailored three-tiered programme
- Two Music and Performing Arts lessons, including a large group choral session
- Two Physical Education lessons, one of which takes place in our Aquatics Centre
