At Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong, Key Stage 2 is a dynamic and rewarding part of a student’s educational progression. This stage, covering Years 3 to 6, is aligned with the English National Curriculum and constitutes a carefully planned programme of study aimed to refine knowledge, develop confidence, and enhance critical skills for future learning.
Students begin Key Stage 2 at the age of seven. During these formative years, they are encouraged to apply what they know, think critically, and take on new challenges that will equip them to lead, collaborate, and create purposefully.
Classes run from 8:00 to 15:00. Our experienced teachers work together closely to create a dynamic environment in which all students feel motivated, encouraged, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Meet Our Team
We recognise that parents know their children best and that they are the most important teachers in their lives. We work together with families to ensure children enjoy a rewarding and enriching learning experience, to develop a life-long love for learning at Shrewsbury
A Thematic Curriculum
To cultivate creativity and integrated thinking, our Key Stage 2 curriculum is structured thematically. English, mathematics, science, Chinese, physical education, music, humanities, computing, drama, art, design, and citizenship are often grouped into six-week modules of study. This immersive style allows students to learn with depth and purpose, while also developing an aptitude to recognise connections between diverse areas of knowledge.
Themes are carefully chosen to engage our talented, multilingual student body, encouraging them to think creatively, work collaboratively, and explore ideas in depth. Class Teachers deliver the majority of lessons, planning thoughtfully to ensure continuous progress for every student and to enable each student to flourish academically and personally.
Thematic Curriculum
To encourage interconnected thinking, our Key Stage 1 curriculum is taught thematically. This framework allows for individual programmes of study including English, Mathematics, Science, Chinese, Music, Physical Education, Humanities, Computing, Drama, Art, Design, and Citizenship to be interwoven into six-week units of study.
