The opening of Year 7 in August 2026 and Year 8 in August 2027 at Shrewsbury School Hong Kong represents the natural progression from our highly regarded Primary School. Meet Our Team

We recognise that parents know their children best and that they are the most important teachers in their lives. We work together with families to ensure children enjoy a rewarding and enriching learning experience, to develop a life-long love for learning at Shrewsbury

Core Curriculum

Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is led by subject specialists across English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Chinese Studies, and Creative Arts. It blends rigorous academics with interdisciplinary projects, fostering independence, collaboration, and cultural awareness. Students in Years 7 and 8 follow a broad and balanced timetable designed to strengthen subject knowledge while building essential study skills. Specialist teachers deliver lessons across a full range of subjects:

  • English, Mathematics, and Science – a strong academic foundation built around critical thinking, reasoning, and enquiry
  • Humanities – history and geography that promote global awareness and cultural understanding
  • Languages – daily Chinese and pathways tailored for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners
  • Creative and Practical Subjects – design technology, computing, drama, art, and music provide opportunities for exploration and self-expression
  • Learning for Life – a dedicated programme supporting social development, well-being, and preparation for future learning

Developing Skills for the Future

The Year 7 and Year 8 curriculum is carefully adapted for our international student body and is focused on developing transferable skills. Students are encouraged to:

  • Take ownership of their learning and recognise areas for personal growth
  • Build resilience through independent research and project-based tasks
  • Develop collaboration and communication skills across group and interdisciplinary work
  • Engage with technology and design thinking to connect theory with application

Students are guided through a structured transition plan that includes pathways counselling and targeted preparation for entry assessments such as the ISEB Common Pre-Test and 13+ exams, ensuring readiness for both Hong Kong and UK secondary schools.

  • Form tutors oversee daily pastoral care and this personalised transition support ensures smooth adjustment between primary and secondary phases.
  • Individual progress and social adjustment is monitored carefully through personalised guidance.
  • Open communication channels are established among educators, students, and families to address challenges proactively.

A Continuum of Learning

The expansion will provide a continuous educational journey within Shrewsbury Hong Kong’s established, holistic environment. The Year 7 and 8 programme has been adapted for our multilingual and multicultural student body to nurture responsible global citizens.

Alongside a rich academic foundation, students will enjoy a broad range of extracurricular opportunities including swimming, football, cricket, sailing, rugby, rock climbing, and STEAM-focused clubs. These activities encourage teamwork, creativity, and resilience, supporting every child’s personal growth beyond the classroom. Service learning and intercultural experiences will be integrated throughout, helping students develop empathy, a sense of purpose, and future-ready mindset.
