Our Curriculum
Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong operates two distinct yet complementary educational options for children aged between 3 and 13*: the British International Pathway (BIP) and the Hanqing Bilingual Pathway (HQP). Most notably distinguished by the elected language of instruction, both programmes of study are founded upon the strength and rigour of the Early Years and Foundation Stage framework and the English National Curriculum.

Guiding Principles
Designed to support the development of a strong foundation of knowledge and understanding, the programme of study offered at Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong is closely aligned with the English National Curriculum. Objectives for learning are mapped into three distinct Key Stages, to ensure that students are suitably challenged and attain highly. Six guiding principles underpin provision.

Thematic Learning
In order to encourage interconnected thinking, the curriculum at Shrewsbury has been arranged thematically. This means that learning in English, Mathematics, Science, Chinese, Physical Education, Music, Humanities, Computing, Drama, Art, Design and Citizenship is often interwoven within units of study lasting approximately six weeks. Themes have been selected to ensure that our talented, multilingual student body learn immersively and at depth.
The majority of lessons taught to students in Key Stage 1 are delivered by an assigned Class Teacher who plans carefully to maximise potential and secure continuous progress for every child.
