Achievement Scholars
Founding Principal, Ben Keeling, met newly appointed Achievement Scholars, Cadence and Kaelan, for an afternoon tea alongside their outgoing counterparts, Alicia and Sam at the conclusion of the academic year in June.
Marking the annual passing of the baton, the gathering also signalled Mr Keeling’s departure from role, following an exceptionally eventful eight year tenure.
‘The Scholar’s tie certainly draws attention – it also comes with a weight of expectations, but I feel hugely grateful to have been nominated and believe that the role has had an exceptionally positive impact on me personally and as an academic.’
Alicia, 2024 Achievement Scholar
“As a founding student, I have many fond memories of my time here at Shrewsbury, but my experience as a Scholar stands above all others. I have developed good relationships with members of the Board of Governors and supported a wide range of events and activities. I encourage you to embrace everything that will follow your appointment.”
Sam, 2024 Achievement Scholar
Scholars at Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong are expected to uphold the highest standards and be a role model for other students. There are two forms of Scholarship available at Shrewsbury – both are strictly limited in volume. Achievement Scholarships are awarded to students on roll in Key Stage 2 able to present an outstanding record of achievement. Nominations must be supported by at least two members of school staff in May each year. They are assessed by The Principal who then acts to present a recommendation for award to the School Management Committee.
‘Alicia and Sam have set a new benchmark for the work undertaken by Shrewsbury Scholars and it has been a particular thrill to see them grow so confidently into the role bestowed upon them. Cadence and Kaelan are ready to raise the bar yet further and I greatly look forward to hearing more of their impact next year, albeit from further afield.’
Ben Keeling, Founding Principal
