Celebrating Academic Excellence with FOBISIA
Earlier this term a group of Year 6 students travelled to Hanoi to represent Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong for the first time in a Mathematics Competition in partnership with the Federation of British International Schools In Asia (FOBISIA).
Over the course of two days participants undertook a series of challenges designed to test the depth of their understanding of mathematical concepts and problem-solving techniques. Working alongside a range of student teams representing schools across the region, they also enjoyed the opportunity to establish a new set of relationships.

‘The students thoroughly enjoyed the trip and were pleased to learn that they placed in the top 25%. They competed well, demonstrating tenacity, determination and a competitive spirit, as well as humility and respect for the efforts of others.’

Founded in 1988, FOBISIA is a not-for-profit membership organisation that provides peer-to-peer support, continuing professional development and student enrichment opportunities for a large group of schools in Asia.
‘I feel enormously proud of our first travelling team and look forward to hearing news from many others in the not too distant future. All members of the Shrewsbury community benefit enormously from the relationship we share with FOBISIA members and we greatly look forward to working ever-more closely with colleagues across the region in the years to come.”
