With graduation just around the corner, we were keen to check in to some of the schools looking forward to receiving Shrewsbury students for Year 7 entry this August - and who better to send than newly elected school mascot, Darwin.

You’ve been busy - how were the visits?

Very well scheduled indeed thanks to School Partnership Coordinator, Chelly Tsang. Having visited such a wide variety of schools, I certainly learned a lot.

How did the schools compare?

They were all so different, each presenting a unique set of strengths and benefits. I visited British, American and Australian schools, those offering the International Baccalaureate and one that offer a bilingual service - 非常棒! It’s quite incredible to think about the vast range of options that Shrewsbury students enjoy.

Secondary schools are often quite different from primary schools - did anyone talk to you about how they manage the transition?

Yes - Year 7 is a common point of entry and schools are exceptionally well prepared for new arrivals at this juncture. Many offer bespoke programmes for induction. Shrewsbury students have an advantage of course, because they are so well guided through the selection process.

What should parents do if they want to learn more about Shrewsbury’s bespoke selection programme?

School Partnership Coordinator, Chelly Tsang, is perfectly placed to answer any questions and she is always happy to engage with parents whether or not they are already part of the Shrewsbury community.
