CIS Success

We are delighted to announce that we have successfully obtained candidate status for accreditation following the recent visit of the Council of International Schools (CIS).

“The sense of community at SHK is palpable. The school provides a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment where robust bonds and close relationships are forged resulting in a positive school climate that allows students to flourish in line with the strategic plan. The happy and friendly students are engaged and diligent learners who love learning guided by highly professional, dedicated and supportive teachers who work collaboratively in the spirit of collegiality and camaraderie to provide engaging and challenging lessons so that all students can have positive education outcomes.” Helen Sobulis, CIS Support and Evaluation Officer

An effusive summary report containing over 40 distinct commendations and a majority group of ratings at the Exceeding level makes direct reference to the influence of our School Community, School Staff, Senior Leadership Team, Governing Body and Principal.

“We are delighted with the content of the report. It acts as a fitting reward for the incredible commitment of students, parents and staff and will drive us forward, through the process of an extended self-study and then the journey of full accreditation, in approximately eighteen months time.”Ben Keeling, Principal

Major commendations highlighted particular strength in regard to our ‘commitment to high quality learning’, ‘concern for student welfare’, ‘broad and balanced curriculum’ and ‘integrated approach to language learning’ as well as for ‘placing students at the heart of all decisions’, ‘providing engaging and challenging activities’ and offering a ‘caring and supportive school environment’. Team evaluation has been tentatively scheduled to take place during the second term of the 2023/24 academic year.
