Shrewsbury School (UK)
Shrewsbury School in the UK was founded by Royal Charter in 1552. Over the centuries, it has grown in size and reputation and is now ranked amongst the leading co-educational boarding schools in the United Kingdom educating some 800 pupils aged 13-18 years.
Situated in a stunning 100+ acre site on the banks of the River Severn, Shrewsbury School is committed to strong academic standards with a vision of holistic education, as demonstrated through an incredible range of different activities, sports and societies; programmes that are supported by world class facilities.
Shrewsbury is a school of great breadth and also of high achievement, underlined by an impressive Oxbridge entry record (averaging around 15 places a year), regular and critically acclaimed concert and dramatic performances in London and Edinburgh, and impressive results for the School’s sporting teams at both national and international level.
Packwood Haugh
Packwood Haugh joined the Shrewsbury family in 2019. It is a co-educational day and boarding preparatory school for children aged 4 to 13. The school is set within 65 acres of Shropshire countryside, giving pupils space to learn and grow. Boarding begins at age 7, with flexible options that allow families to choose the arrangement that suits them best.
The school places strong emphasis on pastoral care. Boarders live in a warm, supportive setting, guided by houseparents, tutors, and matrons. Facilities include a theatre, swimming pool, sports hall, science labs, and an all-weather pitch. Pupils are encouraged to try new activities, explore their interests, and develop confidence. Many move on to leading senior schools with scholarships and awards.
Terra Nova School
Terra Nova School joined the Shrewsbury family in 2025. Founded in 1897, Terra Nova School is a leading preparatory school in the UK for children aged 2½ to 13. The school sits on 36 acres in Cheshire, with Jodrell Hall, a Georgian country house, at its heart.
The curriculum is broad and rigorous, with subject specialists teaching from Year 5. Pupils enjoy a wide programme of sport, drama, art, and music alongside their academic studies. Boarding is offered in a homely and supportive environment, helping pupils develop independence and resilience. Many continue on to top senior schools across the UK, often with scholarships.
Prestfelde School
Prestfelde School joined the Shrewsbury family in 2025. Founded in 1929, Prestfelde is a leading preparatory school in Shrewsbury, England, for children aged 3 to 13. The school is set within 30 acres of beautiful parkland, providing a safe and inspiring environment where pupils thrive both academically and personally.
With a strong tradition of academic excellence and pastoral care, Prestfelde offers a broad curriculum that balances rigorous study with creative and physical development. Pupils are encouraged to discover their strengths through a vibrant programme of sport, music, drama, and outdoor learning.
Shrewsbury International Asia (SIA)
In 2003, Shrewsbury School UK opened its first international sister school in Bangkok. Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside has since established itself as one of the finest and most successful schools in the region. Its academic standards, performing arts and music programmes, and university placements to the UK, the US, and beyond are all of the highest distinction.
The Shrewsbury success story has been supported by ever-strengthening links with the UK sister school. These connections have in turn led to ambitious plans for expansion in Asia.
The development and management company, Shrewsbury International (Asia) was established to oversee the creation and management of a group of schools. In August 2018, the group opened two new specialist Primary Schools: one in the Tseung Kwan O district of Hong Kong and one in Bangkok (City Campus). Students graduating from Shrewsbury Bangkok City Campus are granted continuation into Senior School at Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside, a transition supported by significant investment and redevelopment there.
