Principal Blog – January 2026
Hello, Shrewsbury Community!
First of all, Happy New Year! What an inspiring start to 2026 it has been! I’m about to head to the airport as I have the privilege of traveling to the UK to visit Shrewsbury School.
Stepping onto the historic grounds of Shrewsbury School was an unforgettable experience. With its 470-year legacy of excellence, my visit reminded me of the deep roots that connect us across continents and generations. Walking through the halls, hearing the hum of curiosity, and meeting students who embody the same values we uphold here—curiosity, integrity, compassion, and service—was both grounding and inspiring. It reaffirmed that while our environments may differ, our vision remains universal: to nurture exceptional individuals who contribute meaningfully to the world.
Back here in Hong Kong, the start of Term 2 has been equally energizing. The joy on our students’ faces as they reunited with friends and teachers, ready to embrace new challenges, perfectly captured the spirit of learning that defines Shrewsbury.
This month, we also held our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Athletics Meets, where our students displayed remarkable determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The cheers from the sidelines and the smiles on the track reminded us that physical education builds not just fitness but also character, confidence, and connection.
We celebrated Healthy Eating Day, encouraging our students to make mindful choices that nourish both body and mind. Through hands-on sessions and creative food activities, they learned that wellbeing is an essential ingredient for successful learning.
Finally, we are thrilled to welcome our new Key Stage 3 Leader, whose expertise and enthusiasm will strengthen our growing secondary program. Their arrival marks an exciting milestone as we expand the breadth and depth of learning opportunities available to our students.
As I reflect on this month—whether walking the leafy grounds of Shrewsbury School in the UK or watching our students thrive here in Hong Kong—I am deeply reminded that we are one community, linked by shared values, rich traditions, and a common vision for the future. Thank you for your continued support, trust, and partnership. I look forward to all that Term 2 has in store as, together, we flourish.
