A Community in Focus: Board of Governors Visits Shrewsbury Hong Kong

Shrewsbury International School Hong Kong was pleased to welcome its Board of Governors for a comprehensive two-day visit on 10th and 11th November. The visit served to strengthen the vital connection between the School’s leadership and its community, offering Governors an immersive insight into the vibrant life and future ambitions of the Hong Kong campus.

The itinerary provided a dynamic snapshot of the School’s operations, highlighting its commitment to academic excellence, bilingual learning, and student leadership. Through a series of carefully curated engagements, the Governors connected with the diverse groups that form the backbone of the Shrewsbury community.

The first day featured productive dialogues with parents, focusing on the School’s strategic development and the exciting expansion of its year groups – Year 7 and Year 8. This was complemented by candid conversations during the lunch with members of the Student Council and scholars, offering the Board valuable perspectives directly from the student body. Governors also toured the campus, observing teaching and learning in action from the early years through to the upper primary levels, and concluded the day by fostering stronger ties with the Shrewsbury Parents Association (SPA).

On the second day, the focus turned to the innovative Hanqing Bilingual Pathway (HQP). Governors engaged with HQP parents to celebrate the programme’s unique culture and successes, and visited classrooms to see its immersive pedagogical model in practice. The visit culminated in a session with the School’s student leaders, including Global Goals Ambassadors and House Leaders, whose initiatives and contributions are central to Shrewsbury’s ethos.

The feedback and insights gathered from our parents, students, and staff will directly inform our strategic guidance as we continue to build a world-class educational environment.”
