A Shrewsbury Story: Irene's Family
Keen to learn more about our incredible community, we speak to a Shrewsbury family every month to find out about their journey, their aspiration and their hopes for the future. This month is the turn of Irene’s family - this is their story:
“Overwhelmed by the warmth and professionalism of staff, we only needed one visit to confirm that Shrewsbury was the school for us.”
“Irene joined Reception last year. She transferred from a Kindergarten just around the corner from our home and had only ever attended school up until lunch prior to arrival, but she found her stride quickly and within a single week, could name all of her new classmates.”
“Irene tells us that she loves Aquatics, Gymnastics and Phonics classes and her growing proficiency in Chinese tells us that she is making outstanding progress there too. The opportunities offered to Shrewsbury students are truly unique and even extend to the Dining Hall, where we understand Irene has developed a taste for broccoli!”
The Early Years Winter Celebration was a real highlight at the end of our first term. We were astonished how articulate, brave and confident the children were on stage and thrilled that Irene felt so able to contribute after just a few months in a new setting. It also taught us about the holistic involvement of the specialist teams and how well integrated learning is across the school.”
“With restrictions now eased and business travel likely to increase, we make sure that we cherish the time we have together as a family at the weekend. Family meals and regular visits to DisneyLand are always high on the agenda. We also plan to take advantage of short outbound family breaks after Irene reported how much she enjoyed our recent Winter break. Hong Kong is our home and we love it here"
